doukutsu monogatari

Tegaki. Cave Story is an amazing game. I only just played it for the first time back in the summer, and I really regret not having played it sooner. Its quality is very surprising for a game made entirely by one person. The concept, the character designs, the dialogue, the graphics, the music, the gameplay--everything is so professional that it's easy to forget that it's all thanks to just one guy. It's easily one of my favourite games, and as most will agree, it's definitely the best indie game of all time. It stands its ground against any great game. It feels like an 8-bit game, and I find that to be a really charming experience (like MOTHER 2 and Final Fantasy III DS), and plays similar to Metroid or Castlevania, though I've never been a fan of either (the latter just for lack of playing). Its difficulty is just right, though it gets pretty damn hard near the end, and if you're going for the best ending it's just plain hard. I've beaten Hell myself, but am not quite ready to be doing speedruns through it.

If you haven't played this game, play it. You can download it and the translation here, or just wait until it's released on WiiWare. If you're going to wait, don't play it with the updated graphics and music first, though D:

I really like how this came out. The kanji was fun (ha, ha...) and I'm not used to drawing guns, but I think it came out alright.
